Yeah, so I'm not dead. I'm just not sure what's up with me lately. Things I've drawn aren't coming out even close to the way I want them to, so I haven't drawn in months again. The new pic of Ida Rose is the first one I've drawn, much less colored, in a very long time. I"m actually kinda pleased with it, though the coloring shifted in the transition to jpeg. Ah well.

Though this shouldn't be an excuse. I have a sketchbook and a half to scan and put up before I even get to my current one. *sigh*

Actually, I've taken up crochet and that has been very good for me. I think learning a handicraft has significantly helped me with lots of things, particularly calming down from stress. I'm only on my second project with it (another scarf), but the improvements I've made are pretty darn obvious. I'll try and have pictures taken of the first and second scarf and post them. I'm trying a shawl next, after practicing a few different stitches so that the shawl will be a bit more interesting. Change it up, as it were.

Crocheting is so much fun. :) And it does help with release of stress. I would consider it creative as well, so you've just redirected is all. :) Nothing wrong with that.

Yeah, I have to agree. It's nice creating something tangible in my hand, with further uses other than being something pretty to look at. As much as I love art, I think lately I want my art to love me back.

Then just keep up the crocheting. (Like I need to tell you that.XD ) It will help you and maybe lead to getting the art back. It did for me in an odd way. I think if you like doing it then go for it full steam. :)

I've thought about taking up crochet to make lace for my clothes. I really like crochet lace and cotton is so much better than whatever scratchy stuff commercial lace is made of. Anyway, just do what feels right at the time and don't worry about "abandoning" anything, or anything like that. It took me a long time to realize that it's okay to stop doing something for a while and work on something else. It's made me much happier to decide that.

Heh, I will! I'm almost done with the second scarf. It's for my mother, but I wanna cuddle it. It's so soft and springy, because I did the stitches so tight.

Awesome! Where did you get the pattern?

Oddly the first thing I made was a baby blanket. XD turned out really well though.

I was just taught a stitch and used it through the whole thing, it's not really a pattern.

There's nothing wrong with that. :) Did you pick up any books or anything? I get sucked in at the hobby store looking at the little pattern books for crocheting. And I found a beautiful and super simple pattern for a shawl/scarf. I'm sure i can find the name of the book I got it from somewhere if you'd like. It's very lacy looking and looks kind of like little flowers. I have a picture I can post to show you.

man...who knew I'd get all excited over that. XD
